BEFORE THE FIRST VISIT AND BETWEEN ALL VISITS
When you return for follow up visits, I need you to be prepared to answer the following questions.
Inform Dr. Waldorf about any of the following changes since the last visit…
- Demographics
- Address
- Phone Number
- Insurance Information
- Emergency Contacts
Review the “Review of Systems” [ ROS SHEET ] sheet…..in the waiting room and be prepared to discuss any new or significantly different symptoms you are experiencing since the last treatment.
How much better do you feel overall since starting treatment:
Overall, I feel at least [??]% better than I did prior to initiating treatment.
How much better is your specific [X] pain since the last treatment: [??]%
How much better is your specific [X] pain since starting treatment: [??]%
PAIN SCALE EXPLAINED
I am incorporating a 100 point pain scale that is based on a 10 point pain scale but I would like patients to get a little more specific so I am asking patients to add tenths to their pain assessment so instead of saying “7 or 8 out of 10”, I would like you to give me a better idea of exactly where on the pain scale your pain is and this will allow you to more specifically indicate that by now being able to differentiate your pain between a “7.2 out of 10” and a “7.8 out of 10.”
AFTER THE INITIAL VISIT
Will there be any specific recommendations after the treatment
- ABSOLUTELY – I will be tasking you with what will likely be the most difficult homework assignment of your life because we are going to have to change a behavior that you have likely been guilty of your whole life but have also likely NEVER thought of before AND THAT will be infinitely more difficult than you would ever think possible
- These limitations should be instituted minimally over the 72 hrs directly following your treatment and relaxed only as tolerated after that.
- NO LIFTING, PUSHING, or PULLING anything that weighs more than 10 lbs.
- NO ASYMMETRIC ACTIVITIES such as raking, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bowling, golf, or ANY other similar activities that involve rotation or bending of torso under load or force. Each patient is recommended to consume 1 Gallon of water over the 24 hr period directly follow the treatment unless directed by another medical provider to restrict their free fluid intake.
For the REST OF YOUR LIFE…….
THE MOST IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION OF YOUR LIFE – may quite possibly be the MOST DIFFICULT RECOMMENDATION you will ever attempt to implement into your life.
The most important thing you can do to ensure that your pelvis, which is the point to which and from which all of your weight is distributed and is the foundation of your body, stays in alignment and remains anatomically neutral, is to ALWAYS equally AND evenly distribute your weight from right to left at ALL TIMES while either sitting or standing.
Throughout my years of experience, I have come to appreciate not only how amazing the body’s innate capacity to heal itself is but also, how vulnerable it can be to the strains that get incorporated into the SOMA ( FLUID, FASCIA, MUSCLES, and BONE ). Taking into account the physics involved in supporting all or even just most of your weight onto one side of your pelvis, this alone, even with the pelvis in alignment, can introduce significant strains into the SOMA. These strains are so significant that they can actually directly FORCE your pelvis out of alignment triggering a whole new level of strains that are FORCED into the SOMA. These strains are the barriers to the optimal functioning of the Primary Respiratory Mechanism which is the exact OPPOSITE of the goal of treatment.
THE PELVIS
Being the point to which AND from which all of the weight of your body is distributed and with so many anatomical structures taking their structural alignment cues from the pelvis and sacrum, it is hard not to see it as the FOUNDATION OF THE HUMAN BODY. AS SUCH… Just like getting your car aligned or shoring up the foundation of your house are the definitive answers to unevenly wearing tires or cracks in your wall or ceilings, keeping your pelvis in alignment is a threshold that every patient will likely have to pass if they hope to experience their BEST SELVES and all the possibilities of an optimally functioning Primary Respiratory Mechanism over the long haul and not just for the short course.
WATER
I ALSO RECOMMEND that each patient drink one gallon of water within 24 hours after the appointment. Ideally, every day but especially after each visit. The BEST way to accomplish this is to drink an 8 oz glass of water EVERY HOUR you are awake during the day, unless directed by another medical provider to restrict your free fluid intake.
